Flocking X’s

Peter Morgan

Flocking X’s – A visual encounter. I was wondering about in Arenzano in Northen Italy, not really looking for anything, but I found these empty billboards, rusted, distressed and ravaged by time with beautiful bright blue X’s. I was drawn to their simplicity their aesthetic beauty. So I made this booklet – a meditation on, and in praise of the unintentional, the sheer beauty and purity of just looking. Something to reflect on, something to think about. Seeing something in nothing, or was it nothing in something. Just flocking X’s

Monday Night at Home

Judy Kravis

You’re listening to Monday Night at Home with Thom Katch, the Dengie arm of The Rather Loose Broadcasting Corporation, his feet facing east, his shoes in the bin, the door ajar, coming to you every Monday from St Mary’s Chapel in the Dengie Hundreds, a listed building in a numbered marsh. We’re on our own here as never before. On a Monday night there’s nothing on nothing off, nothing pending. I feel most like myself on a Monday. I reach into the bag, no commitment, the way on a Tuesday I’d hesitate and by Wednesday I might be raving.

Monday Night at Home

Seven Apples (More)

Judy Kravis

I woke up this morning with a dream
in my head about a chaplain’s wayside box
I came upon half-buried in earth
Sunlit  Quiet  A meeting of ways
A perfect place for an apple tree
A chaplain appeared, robed, serene
He opened up the wayside box &
The needy appeared  People needing
The chaplain and the chaplain needing
People was not yet a place
For an apple tree  I thought
Running through a few varieties
In my mind nonetheless

Utopia

Judy Kravis & Peter Morgan

We invited people to imagine beyond their present state,
to conjure a society in which they’d like to live.

Here’s a sudden freedom to release what’s possible,
regardless of everything, in a tempestuous forward movement.

We live in a state of ranting and fear. We only have time for opposition. Utopia isn’t opposition, it’s radical dreaming.

Out on a Limb

what does it mean
when you try to grow mint and fail?
what are the basic conditions
for cultivating an invasive plant?
if you fail to meet them
who are you?

Counting Backwards From One Hundred

Judy Kravis

Counting backwards from one hundred when you can't sleep revives an autobiography of numbers: street numbers, opus numbers, peg numbers, birthdays, buses, ages, dates, years, movies, books, songs, long division, multiplication, punctuation, superstition, one or two introverted numbers, numbers best ignored.
